Blackpool New York started out as a small non-profit to raise money for projects that focus on collective, public, or social benefit.  At Blackpool we believe that The Universe has your back. Always. We now find ourselves at a unique time in history where the world is becoming smaller and smaller. People now have incredible access to each other.  We are optimistic on humanity and bringing people together through the medium of their own story.

This podcast is going to focus on the interconnectedness of life. We are going to talk about shared experiences, highlight commonalities, and breathe some levity into the sheer absurdity of this experience we are sharing. Riding a meat covered skeleton. On a rock. Hurtling around the sun at 67,000 miles per hour.

Once a month we are going to bring on an outstanding human with a story to tell.  So plug your ears into the mycelium, fill your lungs with ether, and tune your heart into the collective voice.

Remember people: DRINK GOOD COFFEE, LISTEN TO GOOD MUSIC, BE KIND TO THE OTHER HUMANS! blackpoolnewyork.com

THE HOST:

Gregory Wachsteter

Greg Wachsteter came to surfing later in life. However, after countless hours on countless shapes, he consistently finds himself perched upon a Glider. The challenge of finding flow on an 11ft board carries over into all aspects of life. Sometimes the world is unfolding with style and ease, and sometimes it’s just a hot mess. Regardless, there is always time for practice. Much like surfing a Glider, Greg attempts to bring his mindfulness practice into all areas of his life. Greg is a husband, father of two, and principal at Watermill Trading, LLC. He is a graduate of Colorado State University with a B.A. in English Literature, Minor in Spanish, and concentration in creative writing. He has traveled extensively and is drawn to the common experience all humans share. Since he was a child Greg has believed that all humans have something to say, no matter their life situation. It is through this belief that he has developed a unique reference set that allows him to relate to people with ease. He has worked at an ice cream factory, a bicycle shop, a gas station, several restaurants, The Pitkin County Parks Department, Two hotels, as a headhunter for computer programmers, the Floor of the New York Stock Exchange, An institutional asset management salesman, and currently is a trader at a small broker dealer focused on macroeconomics and the hydrocarbon supply chain. Greg is one of the founders of Blackpool New York, a non-profit collective that strives to fund organizations that enhance the lives of others. Greg enjoys making connections with other humans, petting friendly animals, and spending time with his family. He can often be found at the pull up bar, under the FDR on the lower east side from the hours of 5 to 6am EST. His first album he purchased was a STYX record, which he promptly decided to return (unsuccessfully) later to be followed up by Frank Zappa’s seminal “Joe’s Garage.” Greg currently lives in lower Manhattan and is grateful for the time he spends in Montauk, NY.
